eduroam

This guide is directed at students and employees at VIA. eduroam gives access to a wireless network at a large number of universities, University Colleges and other institutions worldwide. When eduroam has been configured on your computer, you can gain access to eduroam with your VIAlogin at all places where eduroam has been set up

What is eduroam?

eduroam (education roaming) is wireless network all over the world. If eduroam has been configured on your computer or smart device, you will be able to log on to the Internet everywhere in the world where eduroam has been set up. eduroam is free access to the Internet. As a student or an employee at VIA you have access to eduroam with your VIAlogin.

At VIA’s addresses the wireless net called VIA is used since it gives access to a number of IT services which you cannot gain access to through eduroam.

eduroam on your computer/unit

When eduroam has been configured on your unit, it will automatically connect to this wireless network when you visit another eduroam institution.

  1. Click the network icon in the right corner in the process bar.
  2. Choose eduroam from the list showing available network
  3. Type in your VIAmail address and password (E.g. [email protected] or [email protected]) and
  4. Click OK/Join

If you experience problems when trying to connect, you can use eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT). You can also use CAT if you want to log on to another institution's eduroam.

  1. Go to the website: https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=1008#
  2. Choose operating system
  3. An .exe file will now download. Save file and start the installation by clicking on it

If you want to access another educational institution's eduroam, you have to choose Select another on the right side of the web page and then choose the educational institution, where you are at.

Note: It can look a bit different on Mac.

  1. Click Next
  2. Click OK
  1. Type in your VIAmail address and password (E.g. [email protected] or [email protected])
  2. Click Install/OK
  1. Click Yes/Ja to install the certificate
eduroam on iOS (iPad/iPhone)
  1. Go to settings and choose Wi-Fi and eduroam
  2. Type in your VIAmail address and password (e.g. [email protected] or [email protected])
  3. Click Connect/Tilslut
  4. Click Agree/Enig when the certificate comes up

  1. Go to Settings/Indstillinger and choose Wi-Fi
  2. Type in your VIAmail address and password (e.g. [email protected] or [email protected])
  3. Click Connect/Tilslut
