MindView 8 - installation

This guide is intended for students and staff who wish to download MindView. The instructions are based on how to download MindView 8 for PC

As something new in version 8, MindView no longer requires a license key. It now simply requires that you have a VIA usernam and password. This means you automatically have access to MindView 8 as long as you are either an employee or a student at VIA.

MindView 8 is available for both PC and Mac.  

How to install MindView 8 with VIA license

Open https://www.matchware.com/downloads in a browser, e.g. Edge or Chrome.

You can now choose to download either "MindView 8" (for PC) or MindView 8 Mac.

Choose the language you prefer.

You now have the option to download a 30-day trial version. You should NOT do this. At the bottom, there is an option to log in to various services.

Click at the Microsoft icon (the four colored squares).  

Log in with your VIA email. Depending on whether you are on VIA's network/VPN or not, and which browser you are using, you may also be asked to enter your VIA password. The password is checked against VIA's own servers, and is therefore neither registered nor stored by MatchWare, the manufacturer of MindView.

After this, MindView 8 can be downloaded for Windows and macOS. There is also the option to open "MindView online" if you do not want to install MindView 8 on your PC or Mac. MindView Online can also be accessed directly through this link: https://www.mindviewonline.com/

Once the installation file is downloaded, double-click on it to install it. Start by selecting the language you prefer and then follow the on-screen instructions.

2. When you start MindView 8 for the first time, you will again be asked to log in or create an account with MindView. It is not necessary to create an account first, so you must choose to log in.

3. As before, Choose to use your Microsoft account (the four colored squares). This also applies if you choose to use MindView Online.

MindView 8 will automatically select the language that your PC or Mac already uses. If you want to change the language in MindView 8, There is an option for this.

Select File=> Options => Preferences (you must find the submenu) => Display Language. Choose a different language next go Display Language.

You will then be asked to close Mindview 8.

The next time you start MindView 8 it will be in the selected language.
