About
The Ebsco eBook Academic Collection provides access to approximately 170,000 e-books, primarily in English. The database contains e-books on many topics. It mainly contains scholarly literature.
Access
Access to Ebsco eBook Acedemic Collection (Remote access: Choose institution: VIA University College. Use your login to MitVIA. Remember to fill in your whole email.).
Language
The search language is English. You may find books in other languages in the search results.
Truncation
? = replaces one character in the search term (eg. wom?n finds woman and women)
* = finds all endings of the search term (eg. market* finds market, markets, marketing, etc.)
Searching
- Type your search terms in the search bars.
- Select a Field: Here you can define the fields that you are searching eg.TI=Title, SU=Subject.
- You can combine your search terms using AND, OR, NOT AND: Finds books that include all the search terms OR: Finds books that include at least one of the search terms NOT: Finds books that include one search term but not the other.
Phrase searching: Put quotation marks around two or more words to search them as a phrase (eg. ”physical activity”).
Download
The books can be downloaded for offline use for 14 days. For this purpose, you must create an EBSCO account or a Google Account. If you already have a Google Account, you can use that.
To download a book, you must have Adobe Digital Editions or an equivalent program installed. You will get a link to install Adobe Digital Editions when you select Full Download. Adobe Digital Editions is a digital bookshelf, where the book will be available offline on your computer, phone, or tablet for 14 days after download.
It is also possible to read the book online by selecting the link PDF Full Text (on your computer) or EPUB Full Text (on your phone or tablet).
