This guide is aimed at students and employees who seek knowledge about private companies.

About Orbis

Orbis is a company database containing information on 220 million private.

companies worldwide, among these 900,000 Danish companies. Information about the companies include financial accounts, credit scores from a number of independent providers, directorships, ownership structures, and details of mergers and acquisitions activity.

Use Orbis to

  • Research individual companies or groups of companies.
  • Search for company profiles.
  • Analyze and evaluate companies.
  • Search for competitors.

Access to Orbis (Remote access only with VPN). 

Find information about a company

1. Search for a specific company by typing the company's name in the search field at the top of the page.

2. Select the correct company from the suggested list.

3. Find help with your searches by clicking on the question mark.

4.  If you get a large search result, you can click Select all search results and combine your result with a new search e.g. a search for a country or a city.

Search tips

  1. Click Start again when starting a new search. This will delete all your old search criteria. You can combine as many search criteria as you need in the same search. When you add multiple search criteria in the same search, they are combined with AND.

Company profile

1. You get a short overview of the company when you choose Report.

2. On the left side you can find detailed information about the company, e.g. annual accounts and information on ownership.

3. The company report can be downloaded as a PDF file.

4.  Results lists (eg Key financials) can be exported as an Excel file.

Search for companies working in the same field (competitor search)

1. Start your search by clicking on Add a search step.

2. Select Activities and industry

3. Activity text search is used for free text searching for a certain type of product.

4. Industry classifications are used to search on the basis of a classification code for the company's activities. It is recommended to use NACE codes (European Classification).

5. You find the NACE code by scrolling down the list

  1. If you know a company that works in the field you are interested in, you can look up its NACE codes in the company report under Industry & activities (under Key information). This can tell you which codes to use when you are searching for other companies working in the same field.

3. The result gives you a list of companies in your chosen country that all work in the same field.
