This guide is for students and staff who need access to VIA's addresses outside normal opening hours and a quick login to VIA's photocopiers and printers.
All that is required is to associate a chip (card or key fob), commonly referred to as VIAchip.
Read on to see how to do it.
You associate the chip you want to use as your VIAchip yourself.
VIAchip can be used with either a chip card or a key fob you already have such as a Travel card or a credit card.
If you already use a key fob elsewhere, it's likely that it can be used as your VIAchip. If you're unsure if your chip card or key fob can be used as VIAchip, try scanning it at the copier. If the copier reacts when you scan the chip, it can be used as your VIAchip.
During the scan, only the unique ID of the chip is registered, and the solution does not read other information such as from credit cards.
NOTE! Mobile phones cannot be used as VIAchip, as the chip code in mobile phones changes regularly.
If you don't already have a chip or don't want to use your own as VIAchip, you can obtain a key fob at VIA's Shops/VIA Service/VIAs receptions.
You can safely use for example credit cards. During the scan only the unique ID of the chip are registered. The solution does not read any other information from the chip.
When you scan your chip for the first time, a login page appears on the copier's screen.
Enter your VIA login, and the chip is associated with your profile, making it your VIAchip.
When registering your chip on a copier, use your VIA login. Since it's not possible to see the entered password on the machine's screen, it's important to pay attention to each character while entering. Precision is required to avoid hitting surrounding characters.
You can register another chip as your VIAchip at any time, as long as it's not already associated with another user in VIA.
The registration takes effect within a few minutes, and the chip previously used can no longer be used.
If you lose your VIAchip, this is a quick way to ensure it's not misused.
For access to VIA's adresses, use your VIAchip along with your PIN code.
You create and change your PIN code on my.via.dk. Log in to the site and then click on My profile.
Under Self-service, click on Choose PIN code on VIA access card.
You can find more information about specific local access conditions on my.via.dk.
Note! You need to be connected to VIA's network to be able to access the page for creating or changing the password due to security reasons.
